Obituary of Alice C. Benner

Alice Benner passed away at the age of 85 on December 18, 2025. She was born in Manhattan, NY, on March 5, 1940. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Julia Smilek and Dominic Romandetti, and her brothers Paul and Steve Poswinski. She is survived by her brother, Alexander John Poswinski. Alice was a loving and cherished wife to Frank, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage filled with unwavering support, partnership, and love. She was the beloved mother of Joanne Benner and Julie Weissberg, and mother-in-law to Rob Weissberg. Alice was also a doting grandmother to her four granddaughters: Laura, Hayley, Victoria, and Vanessa Weissberg. She was deeply devoted to her family, and her greatest joy was the time she spent loving, nurturing, and supporting her daughters and granddaughters. She beamed with pride whenever she spoke of her precious family. Her kindness, quiet strength, and generous spirit touched many lives. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband after their retirement. Alice worked in the banking industry for 40 years, meeting her husband at Chase Manhattan Bank in 1962. Family and friends will gather to remember Alice at N.F. Walker Funeral Home, located at 2039 Merrick Avenue, Merrick, NY 11566.
